ARTIST NOTES: An original drawing using graphite, charcoal, ink and watercolour.
After much ruminating, it wasn’t until another lovely friend sent me images of her experience of ancient European cemeteries that I felt ‘a way in’ to the theme of Memento Mori.
It was something about the luscious, spongy mosses staining and clinging to the statues. Something about the year we have experienced.
Something about how an individual considers the ‘worth’ of their finite life.
