Sharon Anne Barry (b. 1975)
Sharon grew up on a small farm near Yackandandah. Music and art have always been Sharon’s passions from a young age. Sharon’s career in art started with a Graphic Arts apprenticeship at Ross Graphics in Albury, NSW. She completed her studies with RMIT Printing School in Melbourne where she received several awards for her outstanding work between 1994 – 1997, coming first place in Victoria and third place nationally for WorkSkill Australia in 1997. A scholarship was granted her after completing her studies at RMIT with the Melbourne School of Art where she studied Life Drawing, Portraiture, Colour Theory, oils, acrylic, watercolour and drawing.
Being a mother of three, Sharon continued to do freelance design work and created gift cards for a local retail business in Beechworth. She started a piano teaching practice in 2007 and in 2016 she completed a Diploma of Music at Central Queensland University. It was during this time that she continued to paint and draw, enjoying plein air sketching being inspired by the Australian landscape, farm life and all things beautiful in nature. Sharon is a member of the Bright Art Gallery but also enters work to art shows around North East Victoria and New South Wales.
She was recently awarded People’s Choice for her work at the Fed Art Show in Corowa 2021. More of her work can be seen on her Instagram account sharon.anne.art. Sharon’s strong belief is that art should bring deep joy, peace and a sense of connection. |
